In celebration of Eid al-Adha, Qatar Charity Kenya is distributing Udhhiya meat to 40,000 households across Kenya, in a large-scale humanitarian effort aimed at supporting vulnerable communities during the festive season.
This year’s Udhhiya campaign placed a strong focus on Nairobi, where 20,000 families living in informal settlements are benefiting from the distribution. Each family receives 2 kilograms of sheep meat, providing a rare opportunity for many to enjoy a traditional Eid meal.
" In Nairobi we have targeted 20,000 families but overall the project is targeting to distribute meat to 40,000 families across the country in the spirit of sharing Eid with our brothers and sisters in need," said Fatma Hassa head of social protection ,Qatar Charity Kenya during the meat distribution in Kibera Nairobi. "Our goal is to stand with families facing hardship and make the festive season meaningful for them."
Speaking during the distribution in Nairobi’s Kibera slums, Fatma Hassa the head of social protection Qatar Charity Kenya emphasized the importance of the initiative stating that qatar charity is honored to bring some relief and joy to thousands of families who often struggle to afford such basic necessities.
The distribution in Nairobi extended to areas such as Mathare, Mukuru, Korogocho, and Kawangware, some of the city's most densely populated and underserved neighborhoods.
“For most of us here, meat is a luxury. Receiving it on Eid means our children can celebrate like others,” said Kemsa Juma , a resident of Kibra.
Other than Nairobi, qatar charity is distributing meat in other counties including Kisumu, Kakamega, Nyamira, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu , Lamu, Mandera, Mombasa, Kilifi, Garis- sa, Tana River, Kajiado, Machakos, Makueni, Kiambu, and Kiambu county.
Qatar Charity is a non-governmental organization headquartered in Doha, with 60 field offices globally, including 36 in Africa.
Qatar Charity’s Udhhiya project is part of its broader commitment to humanitarian and development work in Kenya, where it has been active for years, focusing on education, water and sanitation, health, and food security among others.
