Kenyans will tomorrow December 2, 2025, join the rest of the world in marking a global day of solidarity with the people of Sudan, as the humanitarian crisis in the country continues to deepen with devastating consequences.

Speaking during a press conference in Nairobi, Africans Rising for Unity, Justice, Peace and Dignity expressed grave concern over the worsening situation, describing it as “a genocide unfolding in real time” while the world watches in silence.

According to the movement, Sudan has endured more than 32 months of violence, pushing the country into one of the darkest periods in its modern history.

The conflict has claimed over 150,000 lives and forced more than 12 million people to flee their homes making it the largest displacement crisis globally today.

The organisation further warned that famine is now being weaponized against communities, worsening the already dire humanitarian conditions.

Reports from the ground indicate that children and women have been subjected to rape, torture, and severe psychological trauma, deepening the scars of a conflict with no end in sight.

Africans Rising called on Kenyans, civil society groups, religious institutions, and activists to stand together on December 2 in remembrance of the victims and in support of ongoing efforts to push for peace. 

They emphasized that solidarity from across the continent is essential to pressure global actors and regional bodies to urgently intervene.

Muhammed Saif, a Sudanese student currently living in Kenya delivered an emotional appeal for continental unity.

“We will not allow Sudan to be erased. We will not allow genocide to proceed unanswered,” Saif declared. “From marches in Accra to community vigils in Nairobi, from letter-writing campaigns to protests outside embassies, from public forums to media engagements, Africans everywhere will stand and speak with one voice,” he added.

According to the movement, the conflict is not between two equal sides, rather a continuation of a decades-long campaign of militarized violence led by forces that have repeatedly sabotaged the Sudanese people's democratic aspirations.
