Jamia TV Kenya earned notable recognition at the 100 Most Influential Muslims in Kenya Awards 2025, held on Saturday at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC). The event, organized by The Muslim Media (TMM), celebrated outstanding Muslim figures across the country who have demonstrated excellence, leadership, and positive societal impact.
Jamia TV, one of Kenya’s leading Islamic broadcasting stations, emerged as one of the evening’s highlights after personalities associated with its programmes were acknowledged among this year’s honorees. The recognition reflects the station’s growing influence in shaping faith-based media, nurturing young talent, and promoting Islamic values through modern, engaging content.
One standout moment came when Abu Najma, a presenter associated with “Abu Najma with Kids Show,” announced that the programme had been recognized in the 2025 list. The announcement sparked excitement among Jamia TV viewers, many of whom praised the show for educating and entertaining children in a morally grounded, faith-centric way.
Speaking after the event, Najma Rashid expressed gratitude on behalf of his team, noting that the recognition was an encouragement to continue creating content that molds the next generation.
“This award is not just for me it is for every child who watches, learns, and grows with us. It’s also for the team at Jamia TV that works tirelessly to ensure our programmes inspire families across Kenya,” she said.
Among the members of Jamia TV who were recognized are Urban Shihemi (Show Producer), Mustafa Kassim (Health Show Presenter), Rahma Swaleh (Show Host), and Mubarak Abucheri from the Friday Bulletin. Jamia Mosque Nairobi also received the Voices for Palestine Award a special recognition presented to a collective movement made up of multiple organizations and entities. Key partners include the Jamia Mosque Committee, Jamia TV, NAMLEF, SUPKEM ,Adams Mosque, and the El-Faruq Foundation and many more. In total, Jamia Mosque Nairobi received six awards across different categories.
Over the years, Jamia TV previously known as HorizonTV has gained prominence for its strong religious programming, community engagement, and coverage of Islamic events nationwide.
The annual 100 Most Influential Muslims Awards aims to spotlight thought leaders, scholars, media personalities, entrepreneurs, humanitarians, and creatives making a meaningful difference in Kenyan society.
The 2025 edition, now in its sixth year, brought together hundreds of guests including clerics, media professionals, community leaders, and emerging youth voices.
As Jamia TV continues to expand its digital reach and diversify its content, this recognition marks yet another milestone in the station’s mission to provide authentic Islamic media while empowering the community it serves.
