On Monday, October 27, 2025, Jamia Mosque Nairobi officially launched a special Photo exhibition in commemorating its 100 years of remarkable journey, a century of faith, community service and leadership.
The exhibition is showcasing rare and archival setup of photographs gallery, capturing Jamia’s transformation from its early beginnings in the 1920s to its present-day role as a spiritual, educational and social pillar within the Muslim community and the nation at large.
The exhibition that is open to the public to offer visitors a unique opportunity to explore the story of one of Kenya’s most iconic religious institutions through imagery and history will close on Thurday October 30.
Speaking during official launch held at the Jamia Multi-purpose Hall, Secretary-General of Jamia Mosque Committee, Abdulbari Hamid said the main aim of the historic showcase was to highlight the mosque’s enduring legacy of its contributions to religious education, social welfare, civic engagement and its pivotal place in the country’s cultural and architectural history.
‘’Through curated images, the exhibition celebrates the vision of the founders and the generations who have upheld Jamia’s mission of unity, service and guidance. As Jamia fraternity, apart from spiritual and Da’wah activities, we also involve in education sponsorship through scholarships to bright and needy students, medical assistance and humanitarian service,’’, said SG Abdulbari .
As Jamia marks this centennial milestone, this exhibition stands as a testament to its unwavering commitment to faith, community and national development.
