Muslim women entrepreneurs and professionals will converge in Nairobi on November 15, 2025, for a timely event aimed at unlocking the myths surrounding Islamic finance options and women’s empowerment in faith aligned business.
The event, organized by Afifah, under Kijani Communications Ltd, has the theme “The Missing Half”, which acknowledges that Muslim Women in Business have been left out in financial literacy and sensitization.
“This event seeks to provide a platform for Muslim women to explore practical, faith-compliant pathways to entrepreneurship, financial independence, and inclusive growth,” explained Umi Wabomba who is part of the Organizing team.
The event will take place at Darul Arqam Integrated International School and Madrasah in Lavington, Nairobi.
Key topics of discussion will include “One Size Doesn’t Fit All” highlighting the practice of Islamic Financial Institutions having very limited offerings to Women in business yet they are all unique and in different phases of business growth.
Another interesting topic will look at the factors that contribute to business success. Is it, “Grit, Acumen, or Pure Luck?” This will explore how faith, strategy, and resilience intersect in the modern business world.
The panel of speakers features some of Kenya’s influential Muslim women in business, education, and social enterprise.
Banu Khan, a gender and finance expert known for championing equitable access to capital for women entrepreneurs. She will be joined by Ustadha Batuli Suleiman, Director of Darul Arqam Integrated International School and Madrasah, who will speak on the role of Islamic values and education in empowering women in business.
Also in the panel of experts will be Fatma Humeyra, co-founder of Manzil Designs Ltd, an enterprise celebrated for its unique and creative interior design and decor services for both residential and commercial clients.
Renowned Journalist Miswaleh Zingizi, founder of Kaya Nuts, a successful social enterprise supporting rural women farmers will also be giving her insights.
The Moderator of the Panel discussion will be Amina Hirsi, an accomplished green economist.
According to Afifah the event aims to demystify Islamic finance concepts and encourage more Muslim women to embrace entrepreneurship with confidence, clarity, and a deeper understanding of Sharia-compliant financial tools.
Beyond discussions and networking, the family-friendly event will include fun activities for children and free expert tips on supporting children with autism and other special needs.
The entry fee for the event is Ksh 3,500, which includes access to all sessions, refreshments, and lunch.
