Residents of Kawangware have been encouraged to turn up in large numbers for a Community First Aid Training Day scheduled for Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Twaiba Mosque, Kawangware.
The training, organized by the Udh’hiya Mbuzi @20 Bob Initiative in partnership with the Risalat Daawah Organization, seeks to empower individuals with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively during medical emergencies.
According to the organizers, the session will provide practical, hands-on first aid skills that can make a critical difference in saving lives before professional medical help arrives.
“With road accidents, household injuries, and medical emergencies increasingly common in urban informal settlements, such initiatives are essential in building safer and more resilient communities,” said Risalat Daawah Organization Chairman, Ramadhan.
Participants will learn how to manage road accident victims, treat burns and injuries, and respond to common medical emergencies.
Themed “Be the Hero in Any Situation,” the training aims to inspire a culture of preparedness among community members.
A poster promoting the event reads in part: “Be the hero in any situation, learn how to save lives with confidence. Join our First Aid Training Activity and gain practical, life-saving skills.”
This initiative forms part of an ongoing community awareness campaign to promote health, safety, and emergency preparedness across Kawangware and its surrounding areas.
“This initiative reflects the mosque’s broader commitment not only to spiritual growth but also to the welfare and empowerment of the community at large ,” said Udh’hiya Mbuzi @20 Bob Initiative Organization Chairman, Sheikh Hassan Makokha.
Residents of all ages are invited to attend and acquire vital skills that could one day help save a family member, friend, or even a stranger in need.
First aid is the immediate assistance given to a person suffering from a sudden illness or injury, before full medical care is available. Its key aims are to preserve life, prevent further harm, and promote recovery.
In Kenya, first aid response involves checking for safety, calling for professional help (like the National Police Service at 999 or St John Ambulance), providing immediate care based on the "ABCDE" protocol (Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Exposure), and monitoring the casualty until help arrives.
