Philanthropist Zool Nimji Passes Away

By Urban Shihemi, August 4, 2025 The Muslim community in Kenya is mourning the passing of Zool Nimji, a devoted philanthropist and community leader whose lifelong service to the Muslim Ummah has left an enduring legacy of compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment. Zool Nimji was a founding trustee of the Ummah Foundation, a non for profit, charitable organisation involved in programs including education bursaries to orphans, poor and needy students, Social welfare activities and community empowerment, water and sanitation, Medical Activities (medical bills assistance, Cataract operations and in-kind support to rural medical facilities), Prisoners Rehabilitation programs,Community Development projects, Udhuhiyyah (Qurban) and food relief supply to the arid and semi arid areas of the country. His vision and leadership laid the foundation for impactful charitable programs that continue to uplift communities across Kenya. He also served as a trustee and senior committee member of Parklands Mosque in Nairobi, where his presence was marked by humility, wisdom, and a deep dedication to the growth and welfare of the mosque and its congregants.

In addition, he was a trustee of Jamia Mosque Nairobi, one of Kenya’s most prominent Islamic institutions, and the Managing Trustee of the 3Z Foundation, further extending his reach in supporting faith-based and humanitarian causes both locally and internationally. Throughout his life, Zool Nimji exemplified the true spirit of Islamic charity giving quietly but generously, always placing the needs of others before his own. His work impacted countless lives, from orphans and widows to students and the sick. His passing is a profound loss to the community, but his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. May Allah (SWT) grant him Maghfirah (forgiveness), envelop him in His infinite mercy, and elevate his rank to the highest station in Jannat-ul-Firdaus. Ameen. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.
