His Highness Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, the Crown Prince of Perlis, Malaysia, is set to visit Jamia Mosque Nairobi tomorrow in what marks his first official visit to Kenya.
The visit, described as historic, will include a meeting with members of the Jamia Mosque Committee to deliberate on matters geared towards the advancement and welfare of Muslims in Kenya.
The Crown Prince, who has built a reputation as a strong advocate for Muslim affairs, is expected to engage in discussions that promote cross border collaboration on Islamic education, religious development, and social welfare.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra is the eldest son of Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, the 7th and current Raja of Perlis, and Tuanku Tengku Fau-ziah Tengku Abdul Rashid. He earned his Bachelor of Economics from La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia,and was officially installed as Raja Muda(Crown Prince) of Perlis on October 12, 2000, at Istana Arau. Between 2001 and 2006, during his father’s tenure as the12th Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) of Malaysia, he served as the Regent of Perlis.
Since then, he has played a leading role in advocating for the rights and development of the Malay and Muslim
community in Malaysia and beyond.
He currently serves as President of the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs), a key institution responsible for managing Islamic affairs, religious education, zakat administration, and cultural heritage in the state of Perlis.
In addition to his religious and cultural leadership, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra is the Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and holds the rank of Brigadier General as Commander of the 504th Regiment of the Malaysian Territorial Army (Askar Wataniah - Reservist).
His visit to Jamia Mosque is seen as a significant gesture in strengthening Kenya-Malaysia ties in religious, cultural, and educational cooperation.
