Between the Pages, a visionary Islamic book club committed to reviving the reading culture among Muslims, will hold an engaging session reviewing a book titled, "Be Mindful of Allah" a book by Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali, a renowned Islamic scholar, which is a commentary on the famous hadith where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advises Abdullah ibn Abbas to "Be mindful of Allah and He will be mindful of you".
The book delves into the comprehensive meanings and implications of this hadith, explaining how it encompasses fundamental aspects of the religion, including one's relationship with God and the rewards promised for fulfilling His rights. The book touches upon essential Islamic principles, including the concept of "taqwa" (piety, fear of Allah), the rights of God, and the rewards for fulfilling those rights.
Ibn Rajab's commentary goes beyond theoretical understanding and offers practical guidance on how to cultivate mindfulness of Allah in daily life.
While scholarly in its approach, the book is written in a manner that is accessible to a wide audience, making it a valuable resource for Muslims seeking to deepen their understanding of this important aspect of their faith
The book review session will be held on Saturday, 26th July 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Jamia Mosque Multi Purpose Hall, Nairobi.
Founded by scholars Sheikh Jamaludin Osman and Sheikh Badru Jaffar, Between the Pages has quickly become a gathering space for Muslims of all backgrounds to explore Islamic knowledge through literature and promote a reading-driven, holistic lifestyle.
Last year the Book club reviewed “The Fundamentals of Tawheed” by sheikh Bilal Philips, a book that clarifies in detail what Islam means when it says ONE GOD by identifying and explaining examples of the violation of the unique oneness of God within the cultures and beliefs of many cultures.
The book presents a detailed explanation of the classical Islamic concept of God’s unity as it relates to faith and acts of religious devotion.
Also reviewed is “The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine” a book authored by Ilan Pappé and published in 2006 by Oneworld Publications. The book is about the 1948 Palestinian expulsion and flight, which Pappe argues was an ethnic cleansing.
The thesis of the book is that the displacement of the Palestinians during the 1948 Palestine war was an objective of the Zionist movement and a must for the establishment of Israel as a Jewish state.
According to Pappé, the 1948 Palestinian expulsion and flight resulted from a planned ethnic cleansing of Palestine that was implemented by David Ben-Gurion and a group of advisors referred to by Pappé as "the Consultancy".
